Good morning everyone... I'll try to keep it short.

Our President (US) has bypassed congress and signed ACTA (Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement).

You may read about it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anti-Counterfeiting_Trade_Agreement or do a search for it in the news.

While I understand this has little to do with your 1300 (or whatever bike you ride), it does impact all of us as internet users as well as the future of this website which is why I am passing along this info.

Please be especially cautious when you post external material or links to copy-written or other intellectual material on 1300tourer.com. This could be photos of artwork, links to YouTube videos, quoted text from copy-written works, etc...etc. Under this new agreement, if these infringements (based on interpretation of said agreement) are found, 1300tourer.com could be shutdown or taken offline with the flip of a switch... no judge... no jury... no chance to remove alleged infringement.

I will be going through old posts and removing questionable posts and questionable downloads. I am sorry I have to do this, but to me it is worth the sacrifice to keep this group together and running smoothly.

I'm a new owner of a Nissan Frontier and my insurance agent quoted $1071/yr for full coverage. We also just received a renewal for Chrissy's Jeep to the tune of $810/yr.

This led me to looking at some other sources of insurance. The long and short of it --- our auto insurance costs were running $156/mo - I ended up switching and our new insurance costs are running $59/mo. Yes... both vehicles, full coverage,... in fact, that is with higher coverages than what my agent offered.

I had been with my agent for several years and he couldn't explain why the rates were so high. I wanted to give him every opportunity, but he wouldn't take it... so he ended up getting fired this morning.

Looking at the 1300 insurance rates is next on my list.

Note: This is simply a friendly reminder that there are some competitive rates out there to be had and some money to be saved. I talked to Jigg's this morning... he knocked $125/mo off his insurance costs.

Hi everyone,

I had to run some site maintenance and some database "trimming" this evening. I don't think anyone will notice any change... except for the search option. I've temporarily set that to 7 letter words to (warning geek speak ahead) clear some of the indexing cache from the mysql database. I'll set this number back to 5 letter words in a few days.
