I adjusted the drive belt today (the dealer had set it too tight and it was whining) and noticed something that I hadn't seen commented on anywhere.
After I'd tightened up the main axle nut, I rechecked the belt tension and noticed it had tightened up again. A closer look revealed that the whole axle bolt had rotated slightly as the nut was torqued up, and the flat on the drive belt side was no longer flush with the adjuster. This had the effect of pushing the axle back a few mm, tightening up the belt. I didn't take a pic of this, but I've added a line to show what I mean.
After a bit of fiddling about, I ended up clamping the axle bolt at the bottom (see next pic) - this held it tight enought to get the nut torqued up without the axle rotating.
Now this may just be my bike, but thought it worth a comment and a pic.
