Zumo 665

Well I decided before my Grand Canyon trip this spring to have the best equipment available, so I purchased a Zumo 665 and installed it on my 1300. Just like the 1300, it ran flawlessly. Get into a new town for the first time? No problem, hit motels and it will take you to the nearest Days Inn. Need a place to have a steak or Mexican food? No problem. Find the nearest gas station or coffee shop? Its a breeze! I installed a 16 gig memory card in it, and jammed it with MP3's, for my Bluetooth helmet. Even activated the satellite radio. It worked like a charm. Along with my 3G iPAD I was as connected as anyone could be with the best technology available anywhere . . .
Unfortunately, about two weeks after my return from my Grand Canyon trip out of Iowa, I set the unit on my motorcycle seat and it fell off on the gravel and cracked the unit's screen.(:>( Pure carelessness, no doubt about it. I only got two months of use out of it before the accident. No problem I thought, it should still be under warranty the first year, so I will just send it in for a new one . . . not so fast, I was told. You must call Garmin and get a RMA number, to send it back, which I did, and no, a broken unit was not covered by the, "Limited" warranty. In fact I was going to have to pay $180 flat replacement fee . . . Okay, a $1200 unit (I paid a lot less, BTW), not much choice, is there?
Can't say enough about this Zumo 665 though, just be careful once you get it out of the box . . . Don't be careless because the screen is the weak point, & has to be very delicate to work at all. My new one should be on the way as I speak. I will probably buy the software update next spring as well, for another $99 . . . Jeesh! No problems with this unit other than my own carelessness(:>)

Batwing owners question

Batwing owners, I'm looking into getting one, and I would like to know what wingsheild to get. I have the stock seat, and I am 5'6" tall. I have the stock "short" Yammie sheild right now, and the wind hits my helmet 1/2 way up my forehead. I would like it to just go over my head, so I'm wondering what length of sheild to get. All answers welcom. jdadoug

welcome knvduhon

Welcome to the site and to bikes! Lots of good people, good ideas and good information here. Congratulations on being lucky enough or computer literate enough to get a bio posted with something it! It's been awhile since I have seen one of those. Enjoy your time here.

I don't mind work, but the 8 hr wait to go home is a bunch of bull.

"2011 M&G Entertainment";

3rd Party Video:

Hey Conrad,

I applaud you for your tireless efforts in organizing the 2011 M&G. Recently I came across a group of musicians, " St. Luke's "BB" Band ", & knowing you have a flare for music, thought they might provide some evening entertainment for the 1300 Group. For that matter, there are probably some in the 1300 Group that are just as musical. So click on the weblink & have a listen to see what you think.
I "WARN YOU", have a "SMILE" on your face "OR" at least a "GRIN" in your heart as you listen to this talented group of musicians.

"PS", I'm trying to work out timing & finances to be there & not to be square for the 2011 M&G, in case your wondering.

All my best, kritter.
