Yamaha 1300 Tourer - Yamaha 1300 Tourer Fansite

My wonderful wife picked up a modified comfort seat (from somebody on the forums) for an xmas present. What I didn't know about, was the adjustments for the backrest. I looked all over and couldn't find any install instructions, because I was curious about a couple of things.
Does the rest slide all the way in until it comes into contact with the pan of the seat? There's a small pad that seems to inhibit that from happening. Also, for forward adjustments on the backrest, there is only a bolt that goes through it? Thread the bolt out a bit and it pushes the backrest forward more... Seems like it would get chewed up pretty quickly, since the frame is only aluminum.
Anyway, if anybody has any actual directions (something that covers the questions), or answers, would be greatly appreciated. I'm not sure how I'm going to like the seat yet, since it's winter here and way to cold to ride. Heated gear or not, 20F is still too cold.
