I came across an interesting artical in the august issue of roadbike magazine. it is about how motorcycle thefts were down in 09 by 13%
over 08. what I found most interesting were the makes that are stolen the most. according to the national insurance crime bureau there
were 56,093 stolen in 09 down from 64,492 in 08. the top five were 1. honda-13,688 2. yamaha-11,148 3. suzuki- 9,154 4. kawasaki - 5,911
and harley davidson - 3,529. these five brands accounted for 77.4% of all reported thefts. the top five states for theft were 1 califonia
2 texas 3 florida 4 north carolina and 5 was georgia. these five states accounted for 39% of the total.
the harley rider will have to rethink the idea of putting a honda or yamaha cover on there bikes to keep them from getting stolen.
looks to me theives would be three times more likely to take at least a look if they were wearing our colors. you can get a full theft report
