Hi
I recently bought a gel seat pad as my current seat was becoming, literally, a pain in the arse (or ass, depending)

As you you can see from the website, the company actually provides gel mattresses and pads for the medical industry, and has diversified into making motorcycle seat pads. They can either be "installed" into the seat or attached by using the optional cover.
At the beginning of August I rode 1,100 kms in two days across northern Spain to see the wife's folks. By the end of the second day it felt like my thighs were being cut in half. The pain intensified when we stopped and I had to put my feet down.
For the journey back I decided to try one of these seat pads and the difference was unbelievable. I went for the large seat pad (with optional cover), which actually isn't that big, but did the job. Something to note here is that (obviously) is you add the gel bap you will also add a little height to the seat. For me this was perfect as it also altered my riding position for the better.
You can also buy a square pads of different sizes which can be cut to size. (see the website for details).
I intend (when money allows) to install the large pad I bought into to the pillion seat of the explorer (as they are almost the same size) and then buy and cut a larger pad for the for the front (which will be added on top of the original seat for the extra height) and then recover the seat.
The ironic thing is that the seat, a saddlemen explorer, HAS gel pads already!
I just wish that I had discovered these before, as I might have been to modify the original seats instead of buying an aftermarket.
