HD lowers, which way?

Ok, so I bought some brand new HD lowers from a friend who didnt have the instructions or the box.
Which way does the instructions say to put them on? Does the little lip at the top turn up or down? I have the day off and want to put them on, so a quick answer would be nice. Thanks, jdadoug.
