First of all, let me wish each and every one of you a wonderful Thanksgiving! As we head into the holiday season, we give thanks to all of the blessings bestowed upon us.
I for one have had a blessed year. My Grandfather has survived through some tough times, I spent a wonderful week of travel with some of my best friends on the road and in Salida Colorado, I married my best friend, and Chrissy and I continue to build out our cabin on our little slice of heaven in the country.
I do realize that for many people times are tough. I've seen so many people out of work this year and fall onto hard times. Regardless of the reasoning behind it, here lies an opportunity for this family of 1300 owners to come together to make a difference this holiday season for those less fortunate.
I've received several emails in the past proposing a small yearly membership charge for access to 1300tourer.com to cover operating costs. I interpret that as kind words not only towards me, but also all of you great people that make 1300tourer.com what it is today. However, I have no intention of charging a membership fee. What I do propose is that if you feel that 1300tourer.com is worth an annual fee, that you direct that fee (whatever you feel is fair) towards making the world a better place!
Many of you know that I am skeptical of charities and how their funds are dispensed. Great care and research went into our involvement with the Children's Home in Pigeon Forge, TN. My intention was to carry that tradition forward to future Meet & Greets, however there were just too many logistics to cover over long distances. We did have a great time at that fundraiser, but it seemed while most of us were on vacation, we were just as happy sitting at the motel/hotel with a cold beer in our hands (as proven in Salida).
Given that, I'd like to welcome you and encourage you to participate in 1300tourer.com's 1st Annual Food Ride. For those of you who would like to participate (and those of you who want an annual membership fee), please choose a local food pantry of your choice, and make a food donation. Below are some items that all pantries need, and they are the items that we will track here on 1300tourer.com. When you make your donation (regardless of the size), please report back to me via email your donated items, and I'll add it discretely to the list here. We'll run this until the end of December, and virtually toast each other on New Year's Eve!
There are no physical prizes. There will be no winners. We'll simply be doing a good thing and making a difference as the close knit group we have grown into.
