I have this bud. (no, really, I DO have a bud)........ Anyway. He's got a 2007 HD Ultraglide. Really nice bike. Well, he's chromed quite a bit of it, (bolt ons), and it looks really nice. (I've ALMOST got him talked into going darkside...........but that's another story).
Anyway...........a week ago, he finally decides to UP the hp/tq on the bike, by adding a vance and hines exhaust setup, and a K&N filter/intake setup, PLUS some mod (it's not even a piggyback setup), anyway, for the pcm, and having it dyno tuned for the whole works. Lemme tell ya, HD's are spendy as HELL to play with.
But I digress....................The local HD shop ( after he has to basically fight with them to match another HD's install /dyno price, EVEN after he's purchased 3 different HD bikes there over the years, (all BIG spendy bikes, not just little sportsters, etc, etc), so you'd THINK they'[d like bend over backwards to have his work/possible sales again, right?.........apparently not..........
Anyway, he gets his bike back. He's happy as snot. Goes alot faster, sounds damm good.
I go over to look at it/listen to it. Nice pipes, throaty/deep HD rumble. (before you could barely hear it run). (he'd get pissed if I started mine up first when we'd be riding somewhere). LOL.
I kinda hear something different, so I peek into the right exhaust/muffler. IN there I spot about a 9/16 (or bigger), HOLE right in the middle of a nice piece of metal that USED to be the center of the baffle. I ask........wtf?.............. He calls the HD shop, and they say "We have to drill that hole to install our 02 sensor for dyno'ing the bike"..........I say WTF?: Isn't your bike a fuelie?............Yes...........i say call the HD shop that WAS going to do the install/dyno initially. He does. They say NO< we do not/will notn drill into your brand new vance and hines muffler setup. No reason to......................I then call vance and hines myself. SAme response. WTF?...........
He takes his bike back out to the installing HD dealer and sees 2 other bikes that have same pipes............THOSE also have a hole drilled into the right side baffle area....................More 'why do you do that?".

My thoughts are this. IF you perform (and jsut HAVE to), drill a hole in someones exhaust to install a temp 02 mount, wouldn't you think you[d PLUG the freaking hole back up when you were done somehow?..Weld a patch/plug/something?........I mean if you did a PROPER dyno tune, and the hole WAS ;plugged with YOUR temp 02 sensor, and you tuned thusly, NOW you'[ve removed your 02 sensor, adn there is a HUGE hole (i.e. less backpressure/leaner condition, ), didn't you just shitcan your dyno setup?
Sounds stupid as hell to me. PLUS the right side baffle sounds crispy/rattly/ compared to the smooth burble, burble of the left side. Hell, for pure PURE sound alone I'[d have the hole plugged........................
I was so pissed for him........................still kinda am.....................what dya think?..................all for naught?.
