I just go these new speakers in the mail yesterday and tried them this morning. My ride to work is a short ride so I can't really give them a full test yet but I'm sure it won't be long before I do.
I have installed a complete radio with two speakers mounted to the handlebars but have been less than satisfied with the results. At local street speeds, the sound works although the reception is less than stellar. That can be fixed but at more added cost involved. For what I paid for this thing, there should not be anything left to add in my opinion. On a real windy day or at highway speeds, the noise factor is simply too much and drowns out the stereo.
Round two: Iasus XSound2 Helmet Speakers - My first trial run this morning seemed to go well. I bow my head in shame and admit that I do not always wear a full face helmet so this won't work on my 3/4 helmet but for the colder months, I think these small speakers will work. The sound quality was better than a traditional pair of ear plug speakers. At low speeds, they are loud enough to drown out desired noises such as emergency vehicles but I didn't get any sustained highway speeds to determine if it will be loud enough for distance trips. I did have to turn the volume up to it's maximum with no distortion when I reached 65 mph. The device I was plugged into was my GPS so the sound level may perhaps be different (better or worse) depending upon the device I plug the speakers into. I will need to get a longer cord today from Radio Shack as I do not want to keep the GPS in my coat pocket. I prefer to see it through the plastic cover of my Tank Bag.
