Iowa Corn Indy 250

Hi All,

Drivers!! Start...your...Engines!!

There isn't an Indycar race at Kansas Speedway this year, so I'm making a trek to the Iowa Speedway for my fix. The race is Saturday, June 25th @ 7pm cst.

Track Details -- Iowa Speedway is a .875-mile asphalt paved tri-oval located in Newton, Iowa, 30 miles east of Des Moines. The track is owned and operated by U.S. Motorsport Corporation and designed by former NASCAR champion Rusty Wallace. It was designed with the second generation of SAFER Barrier around the entire perimeter of the racetrack.

I'm inviting anyone that wants to join in the ride, and the race too! I've started filling an empty row in section 411, so there should still be seats available. Tickets are $68, but we could possibly get a pkg deal if there are a few of us attending. There is also a concert after the race (We the Kings), a pop-rock band.

I'd like to leave KC by 10am, so I'm expecting to hit DesMoines around 2pm to check-in at the hotel. Then a quick ride to the track around 5pm for the race.
I'm also wanting to stop by "Freedom Rock" on the way (either on the way up, or on the way home).
Freedom Rock is located near Greenfield, IA, east of DesMoines, south of I-80.

I know many of the membership is just getting back home after the M-n-G, so don't feel any pressure to attend if you're still resting up. But I'd love to meet a few members while I'm in the area!

Except for being the home of Maytag and the racetrack, I don't have much knowledge of Newton. Maybe we could have an early afternoon dinner in town if anyone has a recommendation?
