Retired USAF Owner of a 2009 V Star 1300 Touring

Just settling into my new bike after retiring here in sunny Florida. I have to say of all the forums this is by far the best. The others are fine but this is all about OUR BIKE. No more wading through other bikes and haters to find some little nugget of info.

Back in my US Air Force days I used to ride a Honda Nighthawk (700cc) and thought I was in heaven every time I rode it... BUT, too young and too many close calls made me give it up, swearing I would get a nice cruiser when I retire from the service and the kids are on their own.

Here we are many moons later and it is time. I see so many thing I want to do beyond the few things I HAVE done already. I DO suggest you check out my post on the horn replacement I did... amazing results I must say. Being an old military guy (and my Dad retired from the Air Force too) I am very focused on doing as much to make me seen and heard... thus, the early emphasis on that in the mods listed below.

That said, I am not fond of wearing a helmet... not really sure why as we were, and still are, required to wear one on base. Perhaps it is a bit of rebellion or just because I CAN? Your thoughts?

Lastly, I am in need of a name for my white 1300. Any suggestions would be helpful.
