Yamaha 1300 Tourer - Yamaha 1300 Tourer Fansite

Just got my Progressive springs from SS Custom Cycle and thanks to Boomer's "How To" should be able to get these in shortly. Does anything have to be done as far as fork oil level? My bike is an '09 and hasn't been leaking any fork oil so I am assuming it's ok. Also, Progressive's chart that came with the instructions calls for a 3.25 inch spacer for the V star 1300. According to Boomer's install 3" may be too stiff so the 3.25" sounds like it may be VERY stiff. I only want to do this once so am wondering the best length for the spacer. I was thinking of a compromise of 2.75". A "medium" stiffness sounds good to me. What length do most of you go with?
